Doing Business God’s Way: Why Hustle Culture Isn’t for Me Anymore

There was a time when I wore “busy” like a badge of honor. Late nights. Early mornings. To-do lists a mile long. I thought hustle meant success—and if I wasn’t constantly grinding, I must not want it bad enough.

But then God stopped me in my tracks. He asked me one simple question: “Are you building this with Me, or without Me?”

Whew.....

The Lie of Hustle Culture

Let’s be real: hustle culture glorifies burnout. It preaches that your worth is in your work. That rest is for the lazy. That you have to outwork everyone else to get ahead. But as a Christian woman, that mindset doesn’t align with what I know to be true in the Word of God.

  • Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
  • Matthew 11:28 reminds us, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

God never called us to exhaust ourselves trying to prove our worth. He called us to walk with Him, not run ourselves ragged.

What Doing Business God’s Way Looks Like

When I shifted my mindset from hustle to obedience, everything changed.

Now, I build my business in step with the Holy Spirit. I take time to pray over my offers. I seek peace, not pressure. I remind myself that God is my source not followers, not sales, not algorithms.

Here’s what that looks like for me:

  • Working from a place of rest, not overwhelm
  • Putting prayer before planning
  • Sabbath days with no guilt attached
  • Saying “no” when God didn’t say “yes”
  • Trusting God’s timing, even when it feels slow

And guess what? I’m seeing more fruit than I ever did when I was grinding nonstop.

If You're Struggling to Let Go of Hustle…

You’re not alone, sis. But here’s the truth: hustle culture will leave you empty. God's way will fill you with peace, purpose, and provision.

Start small:

  • Ask God to order your steps each morning.
  • Give Him the calendar before you fill it.
  • Choose purpose over pressure.

Let God be the CEO and you’ll never run on empty again.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to hustle to be blessed.

You don’t have to prove yourself to be worthy.

God sees you. He called you. And He’ll sustain you.

Doing business God’s way isn’t always the fastest but it’s always the most fruitful.

Let’s Reflect:

Have you ever found yourself caught up in hustle culture?

How are you learning to trust God more in your business?
